About
Milena Markovna “Mila” Kunis was born on August 14, 1983, in Chernivtsi, Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union) and moved to Los Angeles with her family when she was seven. After stealing scenes in a string of sitcom guest spots, she landed the role of Jackie Burkhart on That ’70s Show at 14 and never looked back. Kunis broke out on the big screen in romantic comedies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) before earning Golden Globe and SAG nominations for her dark-horse turn opposite Natalie Portman in Black Swan (2010).
Today, she remains the longtime voice of Meg Griffin on Fox’s Family Guy, which celebrated its 25th anniversary and launched Season 23 in February 2025. Kunis’ recent work includes starring with Michael Keaton in the 2024 father-daughter dramedy Goodrich , headlining and producing Netflix’s thriller Luckiest Girl Alive (2022) , and signing on to produce and lead Skydance’s upcoming romantic comedy The 47 Night Stand (announced 2024). Beyond acting, she and husband Ashton Kutcher have raised more than $34 million for Ukrainian relief efforts through their “Stand With Ukraine” GoFundMe —a cause close to her immigrant roots.
Before Fame
Kunis’ parents, Mark (a mechanical-engineer-turned-cab-driver) and Elvira (a physics teacher who ran a pharmacy in L.A.), enrolled her in acting classes to help her practice English. Commercials for Barbie and Lisa Frank gave the young performer on-camera confidence, and early TV gigs on shows like Walker, Texas Ranger and 7th Heaven followed. Casting directors were shocked to discover she was only 14 after she won her career-defining part on That ’70s Show—the producers had asked for actors “at least 18,” but Kunis simply said she would be 18 “on her birthday” without specifying the year. Her quick wit and hustle set the tone for a career built on determination rather than industry shortcuts.
Trivia
- Extreme dedication: Kunis famously slimmed down by about 20 pounds and trained four hours a day, seven days a week to play ballerina Lily in Black Swan.
- Hidden talent: She is an unabashed video-game fan, having spent marathon sessions playing World of Warcraft while filming Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
- Multilingual roots: Russian is her first language, and she often switches to it at home so her children stay connected to their heritage.
- Eye on wellness: A bout of chronic iritis once left her partially blind in one eye until surgery restored her sight—a scare that nudged her toward philanthropic health causes.
- Voice-over veteran: Despite blockbuster success, she still schedules weekly recording sessions for Meg Griffin because the flexibility lets her juggle motherhood and film sets.
Family Life
Kunis began dating former co-star Ashton Kutcher in 2012, and the couple wed in July 2015. They have two children—Wyatt Isabelle (born 2014) and Dimitri Portwood (born 2016)—and were spotted courtside at a WNBA game with their kids in early 2025, a rare public family outing. The family divides their time between a sustainable farmhouse dubbed “KuKu Farms” outside Los Angeles and extended trips to Iowa, where Kutcher’s family lives.
Parenting, Kunis says, is her “priority gig”; she and Kutcher famously pledged to leave no vast inheritance so their kids “earn their way.” The pair also like hands-on philanthropy: they personally matched the first $3 million in donations to their Ukraine relief campaign.
