About
Meagan Monique Good, born August 8, 1981, in Panorama City, California, has been in front of a camera since grade-school. Audiences first noticed her dramatic chops in Eve’s Bayou and later watched her glide between comedy (Think Like a Man), action (Shazam!), and small-screen hits such as Harlem. In spring 2025 she delivered Old Dominion University’s commencement address, picking up an honorary doctorate along the way—a full-circle nod to a career that keeps expanding behind the lens as a producer and budding director. The actress also stepped into a new personal chapter in March 2025, when she quietly married fellow actor Jonathan Majors.
Before Fame
Good grew up in Canyon Country, California, the third of four children raised by Tyra Wardlow-Doyle, who managed Meagan’s early career, and LAPD officer Leon Good. Commercial work for Barbie and McDonald’s led to background bits on Doogie Howser, M.D. and Amen. At thirteen she landed her first movie (Friday) and, at fifteen, earned critical praise as Cisely in Eve’s Bayou. One year later Nickelodeon cast her as Nina in Cousin Skeeter, providing steady work and a teen fanbase before she even finished high school.
Trivia
- Video-vixen résumé. Before streaming was king, Good popped up in music videos for 50 Cent’s “21 Questions,” Will Smith’s “I Wish I Made That,” and more, saying the quick shoots sharpened her emoting skills.
- Faith guides her choices. A committed Christian, she routinely turns down roles that clash with her spiritual compass and once called Jesus her biggest hero in an interview.
- From actress to advocate. Alongside sister La’Myia, she founded The Greater Good Foundation, mentoring young women through confidence-building workshops and philanthropic fashion collabs.
- Doctor Good. ODU’s 2025 honorary doctorate recognized both her artistic achievements and community work.
- Geek at heart. Good once described her younger self as “super nerdy, super skinny, with a big afro,” yet powered by unshakable confidence—a mindset she still preaches.
Family Life
Tyra and Leon Good encouraged all four of their children to chase dreams; elder sister La’Myia became an R&B singer, while cousin Dijon Talton found his way to Glee. Meagan’s first marriage, to producer-preacher DeVon Franklin, lasted from 2012 until an amicable 2022 divorce. She later began dating Jonathan Majors during a stormy moment in his career; the pair announced their engagement in November 2024 and wed in a small Los Angeles ceremony four months later. Good has no children, but often jokes she is “everybody’s favorite auntie” to a growing clan of nieces and god-kids.
